SFMTA
Youth Transportation Advisory Board (YTAB)
- Advise SFMTA on policies and programs that affect young people across SF
- Identify unmet transit needs through research and community outreach
- Deliver recommendations directly to SFMTA's Director of Transportation and Board of Directors
- Join workgroups focused on outreach/social media, data collection, or street team events
- Term runs September 2026 – June 2027; approximately 8 hours per month commitment
District 7 Youth Council
District 7 Youth Council — Application
- Advise Supervisor Myrna Melgar and the D7 office on policy decisions that impact youth
- Open to ages 14–19 living or attending school in District 7
- At least 1.5 hours/week commitment

- Work alongside real city employees across SF
- Open to 11th and 12th graders only

- Shape teen services at SFPL; develop skills in leadership, facilitation, and advocacy

- Stipended writing workshop for Black high school students
- Meet weekly with mentoring from Black-identifying staff and volunteers
- Explore identity through writing in a community celebrating Black and African American history and culture
Asian Women's Shelter (SFAWS)
Youth Are Aware, Active & Supportive! (YAAAS!)
- Stipended youth leadership program run by Asian Women's Shelter
- Build strategies to promote safe and healthy relationships and friendships
- Develop skills to prevent violence and support peers in your community
SF-Marin Food Bank
Food Bank Volunteer
- Sort donations, pack boxes, and support food distribution at multiple SF sites
- Weekend and weekday shifts available at warehouse and pop-up pantry locations
- Ages 13+; sign up online for shifts
SF Public Library
FOG Readers — Literacy Tutor
- Tutor students in grades 1–4 using a structured Orton-Gillingham curriculum
- Ages 15+
- Includes 8 hours of free training before you begin
- 2 hours per week commitment
- Minimum 6-month commitment
Randall Museum
Teen Animal Care Volunteer
- Work with native wildlife under guidance from animal care specialists
- Duties include enclosure cleaning, diet preparation, and animal enrichment activities
- Interact with museum guests
- Ages 13–17

After-School Tutoring Volunteer
- Tutor students after school, help students with writing projects in public schools around San Francisco, and support Field Trips, Young Authors' Book Project, and many other workshops
- Open to high school juniors and seniors
